Insider's Guide to the Amazon

Insider’s Guide to the Best Amazon Lodges in Peru and Ecuador

Working as a Latin American Specialist organising tailor-made trips to Peru and Ecuador, one of the most common questions I got was: “Which part of the Amazon should I visit, the Peruvian or the Ecuadorian Amazon?” No easy answer to that, it all depends on how much time you have, what your priorities are and how much money you’re comfortable spending. Personally, I prefer the amazon lodges in Ecuador around remote Yasuni National Park, the most bio-diverse place on earth and home to some of the most incredible lodges I have ever seen. But there are also some great benefits to exploring the rain forest in Peru. Find my take on it below!

Tanzania's safari highlights

The Ultimate 1 Week Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Tanzania is one of the best places to see the Big 5 in Africa. I was blown away by the sheer amount of wildlife we saw on our 1-week safari. Our journey led us from Dar Es Salam to Arusha, Moshi and Mount Kilimanjaro to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and to Lake Manyara. The scenery we got to experience was out of this world. Forget about Kruger National Park, head to Tanzania instead! This is the story of the best safari of my life.

Having worked as a Galapagos sales specialist in the past, putting together countless itineraries, l want to share my ideal Galapagos land based itinerary with you!

Your Once in a Lifetime Trip to the Galapagos Islands on a Budget

The Galapagos Islands are on many travellers’ to-do lists and rightly so! I was lucky enough to visit the archipelago three times so far, the last time in 2018 working as an Ecuador sales specialist. The Galapagos are just as incredible as most people say they are. You don’t have to be a wildlife addict to go, the scenery is just as spectacular as the wildlife itself, much of it endemic. So how can you experience the Galapagos Islands on a budget?

Flashpacking post main photo

Flashpacking vs. Backpacking

Granted there is no clear definition of flashpacking. The urban dictionary defines a flashpacker as “a backpacker with a better budget – independent travellers with money to spend“. For me personally just tying it down to money is too easy. I wouldn’t even necessarily relate it to a certain age (although some places and hostel types are simply more popular with a younger backpacking crowd). But you can surely be as much of a flashpacker at 23 and 43. So what really distinguishes flashpackers from backpackers?
